Herman “Match” Green, of Nashville, TN, was born on April 28, 1921, and passed away on July 4, 2017.



Preceded in passing by his loving wife of 74 years, Clara Adelia Hunt Green; his mother, Ada Eldora Hudgens Green; his father, Albert Green; his sisters, Mary Frances Hughes Maxwell and Nina Florence Green Hopkins; his brothers, Albert Winfield Green and Percy Henderson Green.



Survived by his daughter, Laurie Elisabeth Green; his son, Timothy Joel Green; his granddaughter, Carrie Anne Green; his grandson, Adam Joel Green; and his great-grandchildren, Mya, Juliana, Jackson, Trent, and Kiera.



He was a veteran of World War II, and was employed with the Tennessean for 46 years, as a manager and as a liaison to the American Red Cross and United Way. Match had been a baseball pitcher and played fast-pitch softball, and always remained an avid sports fan. He also served as an Elder of West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.



Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at twelve noon, with a reception following.
